Mangosteen Juice 

Whilst living on Norfolk Island, I was introduced to the health benefits of a little known South East Asian tropical fruit, the Mangosteen and it’s juice.

 

The Mangosteen once appropriately dubbed by Queen Victoria as  "The Queen of the Fruits", has had, as part of it's folklore , a long history as a traditional natural healing remedy in S.E. Asia.

Scientific tests have been done on the fruit revealing it’s peri-carp  (rind) to contain Xanthones including Mangostin

 

(Wikopedia - “Mangostin is a natural organic compound isolated from various parts of the mangosteen tree (Garcinia mangostana). It is a yellow crystalline solid with a xanthone core structure. Mangostin and a variety of other xanthones from mangosteen have been investigated for biological properties including antioxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities.^[1] )”

 

The Mangosteen only grows in tropical environs, and does not keep well in transport so for a long time most people in the western world knew very little about the fruit.

The whole (100%) fruit of the Mangosteen (including the pericarp or rind) is now available in a pleasant tasting juice.
